Learning Lessons for Middle School Students

theMaker's lessons for small groups of middle school age students leverage software programming and science, technology, engineering, and math learning activities to build knowledge that few, if any, of their peers have. Learning Lessons for this age group are 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes long and sessions go for 8 weeks.

Primary Focus

Like all of theMaker's Learning Lessons, the focus for this age group is on increased development and application of critical thinking skills. Age appropriate concepts in mathematics, logic, science and engineering are coupled with hands-on software programming and physical computing technologies to emphasize those concepts and make them real.

What to expect

A key component to STEM and software programming knowledge development is learning to think differently. Students at this age are more than capable of creating something they can touch, control, and build upon as knowledge and skills advance.

Each weekly lesson covers a new concept and learning activity that builds on previous lessons.  You will be amazed how quickly your child can create fun working objects that are based on concepts and principles that incorporate knowledge and technologies most adults do not understand.  All while helping develop their ability to think and build confidence in their ability to learn.
